FISH PRODUCTION
The annual fish requirement of the entire population of Arunachal Pradesh will be around 2,385 Tonnes assuming that the pre capita consumption of fish is @ 5 kg. per annum and the balance requirement of protein is to be met from other animal/plant sources. Against this the potential, according to tentative estimate is about 3,500 Tonnes. The level of production reached at the end of 1987-88 is about 610 Tonnes. The people are in ordinately fond of fish as an item of food and in general they are very respective to the idea of fish culture through the techniques of fish culture are new to them. In the light of above, the need of developing fisheries in all available resources so as to narrow down the gap of requirement of protein assumes particular importance.The year-wise achievement of Fish production are shown as under :-
